Chelsea too strong for West Ham, as Costa escapes red

Chelsea were too strong for West Ham as the West London side scored a late goal to secure 3 points at Stamford bridge.

The blues dominated the game, with a huge amount more shots on target and possession throughout the match, but could only manage a slender 2-1 win over the Irons in the end.

West Ham gave away a penalty in the first half, when Michail Antonio made a mistake and attempted a rash challenge to win the ball back in the area. Eden Hazard blasted the spot kick in to the roof of the net.

The second half saw more of the same from Chelsea, before the Irons managed to get an unexpected equaliser from a James Collins half volley. Diego Costa was lucky not to be sent off when he made a bad challenge on goalkeeper Adrian whilst on a yellow card; a decision that the Hammers will be very unhappy about, as Costa scored the winning goal shortly after.

On the whole, West Ham could have got something out of the game if they’d had a bit more luck, but they certainly didn’t deserve a point from the game.

Final score: Chelsea 2-1 West Ham
