West Ham have smashed their transfer record by signing Swansea’s Andre Ayew for £20.5m today. The news came a couple of hours after hearing that the Irons had signed left back Arthur Masuaku from Olympiakos in a £6m deal.
The current transfer record at West Ham was £15m when they signed Andy Carroll for £15m from Liverpool, but that has been surpassed with the arrival of the former teammate of Dimitri Payet. Slaven Bilic will be hoping they can form a good partnership in the Hammers attack. The pair scored 22 goals between them at Marseille in their last season together.
West Ham were in desperate need of a striker and a left back and have subsequently strengthened those two positions today. Slaven Bilic said last week that he hoped the East End club would sign 5 new players before the transfer window shuts, so we could be expecting 3 more signings!
Welcome to West Ham, Andre!
