West Ham opened their home Premier League account with a win over AFC Bournemouth at London Stadium.
The Irons struggled to break the Cherries down for large spells of the game, with very few clear cut chances throughout the 90 minutes. It took until the 60th minute for the Hammers to turn up the tempo and start to trouble the Bournemouth defence.
The South coast side looked fairly untroubled until a red card for Harry Arter changed the dynamic of the game, and West Ham were able to get an 85th minute winner, courtesy of Michail Antonio.
Slaven Bilic, and Michail himself will be relieved to have gotten the goal, after the right winger’s confidence had looked to have been badly hit by the penalty he gave away in last Thursday’s Europa League qualifier.
Let’s hope this win is the start of things to come at London Stadium!
